Welcome to The Barking Dog! I created this website with the goal of providing a helpful resource for new dog owners. Everything here is a compilation of what I've learned in my experiences working with shelter dogs and my own dog. Please note, unless explicitly stated, this site does not promote or endorse any specific training methods, trainers or other dog professionals, or dog training products. I'm not going to tell you which training method you have to use or which type of collar you need to buy. I'm not a professional trainer or behaviorist, so I do not condone or condemn any one school of thought; I'm just a dog lover that was once as confused, excited, and overwhelmed as the new dog owners I enjoy helping. I simply want to give examples of what's out there so that you can make an educated decision with the best interest of your dog in mind!
